School Educational trips are among one of the most prominent ways of teaching-learning methodology, while their purpose is essentially to educate, they can also be a fun bonding experience for everyone involved. In the midst of the stressful examination time the students of classes 9th and 11th were taken out on an educational trip to Kolarpatti to get an exposure on the Fly Ash Bricks Unit and Water Treatment Plant - Hony Dew on 22nd March, 2017. It had undoubtedly supplemented the probing brains on the common materials used to manufacture Fly Ash Bricks. Predominantly in this plant they have come to know the making of Fly Ash Bricks. The process that includes the raw materials of fly-ash, sand and cement and the exact proportion in the making of the Fly ash bricks was much instructive and inventive.
The extended visit to the Waste Water Treatment Plant at the same place helped the students to know about the six major steps in the treatment of water: screening, sedimentation, precipitation, filtration, absorption, and disinfection. This too was an edifying and concrete one that deals with day to day life. Here they not only learnt how do public water facilities treat our water to make it safe for us to drink and appropriate for other human usages but also the much enlightening moment was when the students came to know that the remaining water after the treatment is also reused by letting the special breed of fish into it which later gets seeped into the ground to raise the ground water table. The educational trip was considerably prolific.
