PROJECT DAY : CONCEPT – BASED LEARNING
THEME: FOOD AND WATER
PROJECT Based learning is a student-centered pedagogy that involves a lively and self- motivated classroom methodology in which the students attain a profounder knowledge through active exploration of real-world challenges and problems. Such was the learning at our end too! Based on the given theme FOOD AND WATER students from different classes voyaged into fifteen different subtopics. It was an awe-inspiring moment to walk through the Displays, Replicas, Working Models, Informative Charts, and subject-oriented Worksheets from KG classes to Class XI.
It was no less than a exploration into the Paradise of Food and Water when students came forward to explain a simple thing like What is Food to something complex like What is Genetically Modified Food; from Metals to Microbes; from Production to Pollution; from Processing to Preservation; from Wastage to Adulteration; from Habit to Health; from Seed to Crop, from Field to Plate, from Tradition to Trends; from Feasting to Fasting; from Local to Global; from Regional to National; from Meals to Medicine! What was that not explored by our Students on 25th November, 2017!
The Chief-Guest, Dr. Vijay Anandh, the gastroenterologist;the Special Guest, Mrs. Swarnalatha, BVM Global Group of Schools, Visitors and Parents feed-back had indeed encouraged us to the core.
In order to motivate students, we set standards that are challenging but attainable with reasonable effort. By identify an appropriate level of difficulty, prior knowledge and experiences students are allocated with the course and topics to know where to begin and how to fast proceed and get ready for the Day. Such was the result of Planning and Execution on the Project Day!
