21st Century Skills in the BVM Global Cl

21st Century Skills in the BVM Global Classrooms.

21st Century Skills are the set of qualities students need in order to be successful in the 21st century workplace. Framework for 21st Century Learning was developed with input from teachers, education experts, and business leaders to define and illustrate the skills and knowledge students need to succeed in work, life and citizenship.

We are preparing our students for the world that is not in existence and which is also not an easy task for any school and teacher. We also step back and look at that picture from the CBSE Board perspective.

The Lesson Plans of the Teachers at BVM Global Group of Schools revolve around these two questions.

I.             What are the critical 21st century skills every student needs to survive and succeed in our world?

II.            What abilities and traits will serve them in a time that’s changing and developing so rapidly?

On 20th January, 2018, Ms.Jeyanthi, Deputy Director, Education Department, BVM Global Group of Schools enlightened and emphasized the teachers on the important proficiencies of 21st Century Skills in the classrooms. She further insisted and instructed the Teachers to implement and invite Technology Integration, Collaborative Environment, Opportunities for Creative Expression, Inquiry Based Approach, Project Based learning, Information and Media fluency, Timely and appropriate feedback, Real World problems and Current Affairs, Encouraging reflections with self and peer review, Justification for Answers, Writing for Reflection, Use of a Problem Solving Methodology, Hands-on Learning, Interdisciplinary Methodology, into the BVM Classrooms. We make sure that minimum of any three of the above skills are dealt in with each lesson.

We pay special consideration to the students who prefer to work alone and keep aside from participating in any such activities.  However, this is an option not often granted in careers. These sort of limitations we try to overcome through the Remedial Classes.  In addition, collaboration fosters the development of new ideas and exposes students to opposing viewpoints. We make sure that for every lesson a collaborative learning happens in the classroom and the teachers go beyond traditional patterns of teaching. And every student gets the opportunity to participate in 21st Century Skill Classrooms.

Apart from the Interdisciplinary teaching methodology we also exercise Teaching through the Academic Disciplines, Developing lower and higher order thinking skills (HOTS), Encouraging transfer of learning, Promoting team work,Use of technology, Fostering Students' Creativity along with the special feature of CLICKER in BVM for analysing the students response in the classroom. It is a unique instructional technology that enables the teachers to rapidly collect and analyze student responses to questions during class or at the end of the lesson.

We would like to highlight a few such examples of 21st Century skills in the Classroom as well as in the School Assembly portrayed through the photographs here.
