My City –My Duty
An initiative in Schools on Waste Management was introduced to our school students on 27th August, 2017 by the Trichy Corporation under the guidance of Dr. Narasimha Rao of Sai Care Hospital.
Students were sensitized over the segregation and proper waste disposal at home and school. The introduction to the green and blue bins brought in the awareness among the students on the appropriate manner in waste segregation between wet and dry wastes; and also helped in understanding the differences between biodegradable and non- biodegradable wastes. The introductory awareness lecture accompanied with the slide shows will certainly help students’ community in understanding the hazards that hampers in keeping our city clean ad green.
Composting the green waste for agricultural manure and generating bio-gas from human waste to run community kitchens were some of the topics that stirred the sense of curiosity among the pupils.
Students were encouraged to make use of the SWACHHATA - MOUD App and WhatsApp number 8489444400 to notify the Trichy Corporation regarding the indecorous waste disposals in their locality in order to keep the locality hygienic and orderly.
